I’m a DevOps architect, musician, animal lover and all-round geek. If it’s got shiny lights on it, makes loud noises or purrs/wags its tail when you stroke it, I’m all for it. When I’m not writing code or fiddling with computers for a living, I produce my own music and provide the low-end rumble for my band in West Sussex.

Tiller v0.0.7 now supports environment variables

Just a quick update : Tiller has just been updated to v0.0.7. I’ve just added a new EnvironmentDataSource which is super-simple, but very convenient. It makes all your environment variables accessible to templates (as global values) by converting them to lower-case, and prefixing them with env_.

To use it, just add it to your datasources in /etc/tiller/common.yaml :

data_sources:
  - file
  - environment

And then you can do things like this in your templates :

Hello, world!
My auto-generated hostname is <%= env_hostname %>
